Numerical investigation of circle defining curve for two-dimensional problem with general boundaries

Chung Nguyen VAN

Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2019, Volume 13, Issue 1,   Pages 92-102 doi: 10.1007/s11709-018-0472-8

Abstract: The scaled boundary finite element method (SBFEM) is applied to the static analysis of two dimensional elasticity problem, boundary value problems domain with the domain completely described by a circular defining curve. The scaled boundary finite element equations is formulated within a general framework integrating the influence of the distributed body force, general boundary conditions, and bounded and unbounded domain. This paper investigates the possibility of using exact geometry to form the exact description of the circular defining curve and the standard finite element shape function to approximate the defining curve. Three linear elasticity problems are presented to verify the proposed method with the analytical solution. Numerical examples show the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method, and the performance is found to be better than using standard linear element for the approximation defining curve on the scaled boundary method.

Strategic Study of CAE 2008, Volume 10, Issue 11,   Pages 14-17

Abstract: Based on previous and existing experimental results, we combine the basic theory of acupunture and meridianwith that of neuroendocrine immune system and propose a new tentative theory of human meridian. We hypothesize that the human meridian system consists of neuroendocrine immune networks with numerousThe complex meridian networks are then not only spreading over the whole human body but also taking effects

A survey of instantaneous poles for a class of two-degree-of-freedom spherical mechanisms

Soheil ZARKANDI

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2014, Volume 9, Issue 4,   Pages 344-353 doi: 10.1007/s11465-014-0320-z

Abstract:

This paper is a detailed exploration of instantaneous poles for a class of two-degree-of-freedom (two-DOF) spherical mechanisms (SMs) with seven links or bars. For two-DOF SMs, the secondary instantaneous poles (the ones which cannot be found by direct inspection) must lie on the specified great circles. For many of these mechanisms, however, some of these great circles cannot be obtained by a direct application of Aronhold-Kennedy theorem. This paper presents geometrical and analytical techniques to locate these unknown great circles for three topologies of seven-bar two-DOF SMs.
